Irvine delivers squad news for Port Vale trip

5 August 2014

Baggies boss talks about what kind of team he will field at Vale Park

ALAN Irvine will take a full squad to Port Vale for tonight’s penultimate pre-season clash (ko 7.45pm).

Chris Brunt will again get more game time on his comeback from a groin injury.

The game comes too soon for Joleon Lescott (knee) and Sebastien Pocognoli (groin and hip) after they both picked up minor injuries at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Gareth McAuley (tight calf), who returned to training yesterday, and James Morrison (knee) remain sidelined.

Irvine said: “I’ll be fielding some of the younger lads alongside players who need a little bit more game time.

“I’ll be looking to rest some of the players who have played a lot of minutes during pre-season.”

Admission to the game is priced £10 adults and £5 concessions (over 62 years of age and under 17).

Up to 4,000 tickets will be available to Baggies fans.
