Gamboa: Albion is right club for me

Costa Rica World Cup ace on why he picked Baggies over other Prem options

CRISTIAN Gamboa has explained his reasons behind signing for Albion over other interested Barclays Premier League clubs.

The Costa Rica international, who can operate at right-back, right wing-back or right midfield, has arrived from Norwegian side Rosenborg for an undisclosed fee.

Albion were not the only ones chasing Gamboa’s signature but he has opted to sign on the dotted line at The Hawthorns, becoming the club’s eighth summer signing.

“For me, the move is a dream come true, I feel really happy because it is the biggest step of my career,” the 24-year-old said.

“It is a good moment, also after the World Cup, I am happy to be here and I hope the people at West Bromwich Albion will like how I play - and my performances.

“Albion were one of the first clubs to show an interest in me so I believe in the work they are doing.

“It is a big step for me to be here, it is a big step to be in the Premier League, it is really important to have a club where you can play and show your skills.

“For me, it is the right club to play in the Premier League.”
