And Albion keeper keen to draw on positives
BEN Foster is determined to ensure he does not experience the same deep disappointment he tasted last weekend when Albion come up against Norwich today (ko 3pm).
Having seemingly secured all three points at home to Cardiff, the visitors grabbed a 95th-minute equaliser to snatch an unlikely 3-3 draw and a share of the spoils.
It was a frustrating end to an afternoon which promised plenty, with the Baggies putting in a largely impressive display against their relegation rivals.
Foster is keen to take the positives from the performance and, with little to gain from dwelling on the result, insists training this week has been all about looking forward.
And Albion will be going all out in their bid for another three points at Carrow Road, where they have triumphed in three of their last four league meetings with the Canaries.
“It was horrible last weekend,” said the England goalkeeper.
“It was probably the saddest I’ve ever been after a football game. It was absolute elation turned to pure sadness.
“But we’ve got to look at the positives and the fact we actually played really, really well.
“First half we blew them away. Second half there was a period where the lads probably had to get their wind back, but we went again, then probably for the last 15 minutes we were the top team. Overall, we were fairly unlucky.
“We need to take those positives into the Norwich game.”
Foster added: “We turned up for training on Monday and it was all focus on Norwich.
“We had a good team meeting, we looked at everything that happened in the Cardiff game, where we went wrong and where we can put it right.
“We got it done quickly, we move on and it’s as simple as that.”
Saturday’s trip to Norfolk comes on the back of successive fixtures against Swansea, Hull and the Bluebirds.
Just three points and two places separate Albion and Norwich heading into this weekend – one in which four of the bottom six teams in the Barclays Premier League table face each other.
“It’s another big six-pointer,” said Foster, who comes head-to-head with fellow England goalkeeper John Ruddy.
“It’s not only us. You can’t help but have a look at the other teams around us and some of the games they’re playing.
“First and foremost we need to do our jobs and then we’ll get in at full-time and look at the other teams and see how they got on as well.
“It’s only natural, it’s probably the same as they’re doing.”
Hot on the heels of taking 2,000 supporters to Swansea and another 2,300 to Hull, the Baggies will be backed by another bumper away following of 2,500 at Carrow Road.
The club are providing free coach travel for around 2,000 supporters - the 12th successive season fans have been offered such a gesture for an away game.
Speaking about the superb backing, Foster added: “It’s fantastic. It really is, it’s absolutely amazing.
“They’ve been fantastic this season, the turnout we had against Swansea and Hull was incredible. And I know it’s going to be a similar one against Norwich.
“It’s a good old journey as well, it’s a long way. So we’ll definitely need it.
“Norwich will be quick out of the traps and any extra support we can get will be very welcome.”
