Amalfitano wants bragging rights

Midfielder hoping to continue flying start against old pal

MORGAN Amalfitano is hoping to continue the incredible start to his Albion career by getting one over on old pal Laurent Koscielny at The Hawthorns today (ko 4pm).

The two former Lorient team-mates will go head to head as the Baggies entertain Barclays Premier League leaders Arsenal in front of the live TV cameras.

The duo have clashed once before in Champions League action when Koscielny's Gunners beat Amalfitano's Marseille 1-0.

And the on loan Baggies midfielder is eager to turn the tables on his fellow France international.

“I played with Koscielny in France," said Amalfitano.

“He has had a great progression in England.

“It’s always nice to come back together as friends.

“I just hope I win today!

“We are good friends, we keep in touch and I’m looking forward to seeing him again.

"But I didn’t speak to Koscielny about coming to West Brom because I’m big enough to make that decision for myself."

The Nice-born ace admits Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is admired in their homeland for his success over 17 years with the North Londoners - and he is relishing taking on his team in England's top flight.

He added: “Wenger is a great example for the other coaches back home and he has loads of respect because of what he’s done in the game - he has a great philosophy.”
