Hallahan strike in vain

Baggies U18s slip to defeat at Fulham

ALBION let an early lead slip as they lost 3-1 at Fulham in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League on Saturday.

Jack Hallahan (pictured) opened the scoring within 15 minutes but the Cottagers levelled shortly afterwards and struck a killer blow by snatching the lead just before half-time.

The hosts added a third on the hour-mark before having a man sent-off.

But the Baggies could not make their one-man advantage count in the remaining 20 minutes.

Albion Lead Professional Development Coach James Shan said: “We fielded a young side and we did well to frustrate Fulham.

“The lads executed the game-plan well but we conceded sloppy goals and we weren’t able to capitalise on having the extra man late on.

“The stats show they only had one more shot than us – but they made the most of their opportunities.”

ALBION: Palmer, Sweeney, Cleet, Greenidge, Smart (Buchanan 60), Ward, Gannon, S Nabi, Hallahan (Oldnall 65), Wright, Wedderburn (Barrow 65). Subs not used: Ross (gk).
