Duo could miss out on Chelsea return

Clarke provides latest injury news ahead of Stamford Bridge trip

THE chances of Scott Sinclair and Nicolas Anelka facing their former team Chelsea on Saturday (ko 3pm) hang in the balance due to fitness concerns.

But Victor Anichebe is available for selection after shaking off a hamstring problem.

Sinclair has returned to training after almost six weeks out due to a hamstring injury but the Stamford Bridge encounter could come too soon for him, while Anelka is suffering with a minor groin strain.

Steve Clarke also confirmed Steven Reid will start at right-back in place of the injured Billy Jones (hamstring).

“Scott has done a little bit of training this week,” said the Baggies boss.

“If I’m being honest, this game might come a little bit too early for him to be in the starting XI.

“We’ll assess him again tomorrow, he’s had three hard days with the team and we’ll see how he reacts overnight.

“We’ll make a decision tomorrow whether he travels with us.

“Nicolas is doubtful because he has a slight groin strain.

“We’ll assess him again tomorrow.”

Ben Foster and Zoltan Gera are also unavailable as they continue their rehabilitation from long-term injuries.
