Baggies striker continues sparkling form
SAIDO Berahino last night continued his sparkling form for England Under-21s’ with a brace against Finland which he dedicated to his late father.
His double in the 3-0 European Championship qualifier at MK Dons took his tally to six goals in four appearances for Gareth Southgate’s Young Lions.
And the 20-year-old hotshot unsurprisingly took the man-of-the-match honours.
“The spirit is brilliant and the lads have been brilliant,” said Berahino.
They all want to qualify and they’re all putting their all in.
"And we’ve just got to take the performance into the San Marino match and do the job there as well.
“I could’ve had more. I'm a bit disappointed to hit the crossbar as I was looking for the hat-trick!
“But I thank God for the two goals and another good team performance.
“It helps a lot because we’re at home.
“The fans have been brilliant – I couldn’t thank them enough.
“Hopefully we will get the three points against San Marino.”
The young forward revealed a message on his vest after scoring the first goal paying tribute to his late father.
But he was booked for his celebration and is now suspended for Tuesday's clash with San Marino, at Shrewsbury on Tuesday (ko 6pm).
He added: "I just had a few problems at home and I’d been thinking about my dad.
“And today I wanted to score a lot for my dad.
“My mum was watching at home and I wanted to show her I still love my dad and miss him.”
