Myhill in awe of Foster

Baggies team-mate tips Hawthorns No.1 to be an England hit

BOAZ Myhill has backed Ben Foster to make a big impact back on the England scene – and admits he is often in awe of what the Albion No.1 is capable of.

Foster is in the squad for tonight’s game against San Marino (ko 8pm BST) – his first involvement for almost two years after he put his international career on hold for family reasons and due to niggling injuries.

Baggies team-mate Myhill, who is also primed for action with Wales against Scotland tonight, has worked closely with the former Manchester United keeper this season and reckons he is right up there with the very best.

“I remember when I was younger as an apprentice and I first started training with some of the senior goalies; I was in awe of some of the things they did,” he said.

“It’s the same with Ben really.

“Some days you see him do things you think just aren’t possible.

“And, for someone who performs to such a high level, he is so modest and a good guy to be around.

“It’s good to see things like that, work with him and bounce off him.

“You look at the league and some of the different goalies.

“Some of them are not so good at things and strong at others.

“Ben seems to be strong at everything across the board.

“The biggest thing that stands out for me is his quiet self-confidence, which is a massive thing to have as a goalkeeper.

“That stands him in good stead and we all know what unbelievable qualities he has as well.

“He’s obviously a very strong part of what is becoming a very, very strong football club.

“And we get on really well as well, which is good.”
