Boss has same doubts for Stoke trip

And Clarke rubbishes media reports linking Albion with Chelsea defender

STEVEN Reid (groin) and Shane Long (ankle) remain doubts for Saturday’s trip to Stoke (ko 3pm).

The duo missed last weekend’s 2-1 win over Swansea with the same problems and have not trained since.

But Steve Clarke has no fresh injury concerns and revealed Long could return to the practice pitch tomorrow.

“We have the same doubts as last week,” said the Baggies boss.

“I spoke to the doctor this morning and he said if Shane had a good day today he may try a little training tomorrow, which would put him in the frame for Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Clarke has rubbished media reports linking Chelsea right-back Tomas Kalas, who is currently on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, with a potential summer move to The Hawthorns.

“The link is rubbish,” he insisted.

“I went to watch a game in Holland.

“There were a number of really good players on the pitch.

“Three of them at Vitesse are connected with Chelsea and we got linked with the right-back.

“For the life of me I don’t understand why because I have no interest in the player.”
