Mozza skippers Scots to shock win

Also find out how Olsson and Mulumbu fared in WCQ

JAMES Morrison skippered Scotland to a famous victory as Gordon Strachan’s side caused a real upset by winning 1-0 in Croatia.

Morrison, who played the full 90 minutes in Zagreb, captained the Tartan Army for the first time and led them to a gutsy victory over the team ranked fourth in the world.

Robert Snodgrass’ solitary 26th-minute strike proved enough to secure Morrison & Co their first win at the seventh time of asking in World Cup Qualifying Group A, as second-placed Croatia fell three points behind leaders Belgium.

In Group C, Jonas Olsson also played the full game as his Sweden side suffered a damaging 2-1 defeat in Austria.

Sweden are now three points behind second-placed Austria, who were joined on 11 points by Republic of Ireland. Ireland, without suspended Albion striker Shane Long, beat the Faroe Islands 3-0 in Dublin.

Another Albion player to captain his country on Friday was Youssouf Mulumbu. The midfield dynamo played the full 90 minutes as DR Congo held hosts Libya to a goalless draw in Group I of the African Zone.
