Moore joins Appy at Blackburn

Academy's professional development coach becomes Rovers' first-team coach

DARREN Moore has been appointed as Blackburn’s new first-team coach.

Moore, who earned legendary status among supporters during his five years as a player at The Hawthorns, rejoined the club last June as the Academy’s new professional development coach.

Blackburn approached the Baggies seeking permission to speak to Moore after he had been earmarked by Rovers’ new boss, Michael Appleton, who he played alongside for Albion.

The club then came to an agreement with Blackburn that released Moore from his contract.

Albion’s sporting & technical director (designate), Richard Garlick, said: “Darren was a terrific servant to the club during his playing days and it’s been great to have him back working within the Academy.

“We didn’t want to lose Darren but can understand why he wanted to pursue Blackburn’s interest and we wish him and Michael all the best at Ewood Park.”
