Gera: It was just the start I wanted

And Magic Magyar says players are fully focussed on West Ham game

ZOLTAN Gera admits he was delighted to return to the Albion starting XI for yesterday’s 1-1 draw at Tottenham.

The 34-year-old had not figured in a Baggies Barclays Premier League line-up from kick-off since New Year’s Day 2013 after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament knee injury.

And the Hungary international is pleased his return coincided with a valuable point at White Hart Lane.

“I was buzzing and really happy to start the game,” said Gera.

“It was a good 75 minutes for me and I was just happy to be back.

“My recovery has been very good after the injury so I’m happy

“It was a very good point too.

“Before the game if we’d been offered a point we would have taken it, but in the game we had good chances to get the lead in the first half.

“In the second half Tottenham had a bit more control of the game but we still had a few chances, so a draw was a fair result.

“We scored straight after they took the lead and that was a great response for the team.”

Gera is backing the board to appoint the right man as they step up their search for a new head coach – but insists, the players are fully focussed on tomorrow’s trip to West Ham (ko 12.45).

“We just look at the games and prepare for Saturday,” added Gera.

“We don’t need to think about new coaches, we just need to be professional and do our best.

“But I trust the club and I think they will make a good decision and get a good coach for us.”
