Brunt gets a grilling on airwaves

Baggies skipper makes pupils' day

TIPTON Green Junior School pupils recently took to the airwaves on their own radio station to interview Chris Brunt.

The show was broadcast live to all of the classrooms as the Baggies captain was grilled on topics ranging from football to films.

It was part of the children’s project to develop the skills to become radio presenters and learn interview techniques.

The Albion Foundation is working with Tipton Green Junior School through their partnership with Sandwell’s Looked After Children in Education team (LACE).

The partnership between The Albion Foundation and The LACE Virtual School began in 2000 and has progressed to include the delivery of dedicated enrichment sessions, residential programmes and now includes one full-time
Inspire Coach to work with looked after and vulnerable children across four Sandwell primary schools, with Langley Primary School, Pennyhill Primary School and Rowley Hall Primary School also included.

The Albion Foundation LACE Coordinator Craig Bannister said: “For the pupils, getting the chance to interview and speak to a footballer was a once in a lifetime experience and even though apprehensive, managed to confidently and expertly pose the questions to the star.”
