Ladies looking to beat Leeds in opener

Boss Lawrence previews new campaign

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies return to action this Sunday as they host Leeds United at The Grove, Halesowen, in the FA Women’s Premier League (ko 2pm).

The Baggies will be looking to build on last season’s achievements - which saw them secure a top-four finish, as well as a place in the final of the Birmingham County Cup.

There have been big changes to the Albion squad ahead of the new season with several new faces joining the side.

Manager Dave Lawrence had this to say ahead of the start of the new season.

“It has been a difficult pre-season with the girls away on holiday and uncertainty over some players who have now left,” said Lawrence.

“But we have enough quality in the squad this year to do very well.”

Lawrence also believes his side have been handed a tough start to the new campaign - but knows his team have the ability to secure all three points at the weekend.

“Leeds at home is going to be tough, but the key to the game will be starting quickly and putting them on the back foot from the start,” he added.
