Preston Ladies 3 Albion Ladies 3

Baggies go five games unbeaten

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies twice came from behind to draw 3-3 at Preston in the FA Women’s Premier League (Northern Division) on Sunday.

Ashleigh Neville started the comeback before Robyn James (pictured) netted a brace to earn the Baggies a hard-fought point at the fifth-placed Lilywhites.

The Baggies remain third in the table, five points behind Nottingham Forest, with three games remaining.

Ladies manager Dave Lawrence, whose side extended their unbeaten run to five league fixtures, was pleased with the performance of his team.

“The game was stretched throughout and some excellent football was played by both teams,” said Lawrence.

“At times our defensive play wasn’t as disciplined as it could have been and we let their midfield runners go at times, hence conceding goals.

“Having said that, we had some great chances too and scored some great goals again.

“It was a great game of football and really entertaining, which must have been great viewing for the neutral, and an excellent advert for women’s football.”

The Baggies host high-flyers Forest at The Grove, Halesowen, on Sunday (ko 2pm).
