Baggies beaten despite Brown opener

ALBION were defeated 3-1 West Ham in the Barclays U21 Premier League at the club’s training ground on Tuesday.

The Baggies took the lead through Isaiah Brown’s first-half strike but the Hammers fought back to claim all three points.

And lead development coach insists his squad need to be more clinical in front of goal if they do not want to rue missed chances on a weekly basis.

“It was a game of missed chances and we probably created as many chances as we have in any of our games this season,” said Shan.

“We had lots of chances without really having control of the game.

“It wasn’t like we dominated possession as well, we didn’t, but we created a lot of chances.

“Although we didn’t have the possession I wanted us to have, I was surprised by how many chances we were able to create.

“We could have easily gone into the break with a comfortable lead.

“Our two problems on the day were our inability to take chances and we also lacked intensity without the ball.

“I have told the boys that if they are going to be blessed with goals they need to be more dogged without the ball.

“That’s something we maybe need to look at.”
