Baggies end season on a high

ALBION Under-18s finished the season in style with a 1-0 victory over table-toppers Tottenham at the club’s training ground on Saturday.

The Baggies had not won in their five previous outings – but defied the odds to overcome Spurs in their final Barclays U18 Premier League fixture of the campaign.

Defender Kyle Howkins (pictured) fired the game’s only goal as James Shan’s side climbed off the bottom of Group One.

And development coach Shan was delighted his players were able to sign off with a triumph.

“It was very pleasing as Spurs are a good well-organised team with quality players,” said Shan.

“We started the season with a win and it’s nice to end the season on a high too.

“I was really pleased with the performance and I’m glad the gamble to throw Kyle forward came off.”
