Baggies now six games unbeaten

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies extended their unbeaten run to six games as they drew 0-0 with second-placed Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The Baggies remain fourth in the FA Women’s Premier League (Northern Division) after Sunday’s stalemate – with two games remaining.

Manager Dave Lawrence was happy with a point from the game - but insists his side started the game too slowly.

“It was pleasing to get a point,” said Lawrence.

“I don’t think we did ourselves any favours in the first half.

“We gave the ball away too many times and we were slow to react.

“The only time we really found our feet was when the game started opening up in the last 25 minutes.

“We started a few counter attacks which led to us creating a few opportunities which we couldn’t ultimately take.”

Albion now turn their attention to Wednesday night’s penultimate league game as they take on local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“Wolves will be a good challenge and we’ll have to play on the pitch which is getting more and more difficult to play on as the season continues,” he added.

“We’ll need to retain the ball a lot better than we did in the first hour of yesterday’s game but if we do that, I know we can create opportunities and we’ve got the players who can take those chances.”
