Albion Ladies 5 Leicester Ladies 1

Dave Lawrence's side record an impressive victory in the Premier League Cup

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies sealed a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League Cup at The Grove on Sunday.

Goals from Kelly Darby, Louise Fellows and Ashleigh Neville, in addition to a Robyn James brace, earned the Baggies a comfortable triumph over the Foxes.

Albion were beaten 4-2 by City in the FA Women’s Premier League two weeks ago and ladies boss Dave Lawrence was particularly pleased to see his side gain three points from this fixture.

“It was a great win for us after Leicester came to our place two weeks ago and won,” said Lawrence.

“We made too many defensive errors that day and were made to pay for them.

“Our girls kept the ball better, created some great chances, and scored some well-worked goals.

“Our forward movement was excellent and I’m really pleased for Ashleigh Neville - who has really matured these past few games and is now playing her best football for a while.

“Next week’s game against Forest will be very tough as they don't concede many goals and have some good attacking players, so each player will need to be at their very best to keep this run going.”
