But Foster ruled out of next two games
STEVE Clarke has revealed the fitness of Jonas Olsson and Youssouf Mulumbu is in the balance ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Swansea (ko 7.45pm).The key duo are both expected to take to the training pitch today and the Baggies boss is keeping his fingers crossed they come through without any problems.
Olsson limped off at the end of Saturday’s 4-2 win at Sunderland with a calf problem, while Mulumbu missed the Stadium of Light encounter due to a tight hamstring.
Ben Foster has been ruled out of the next two games as the medics contemplate whether he needs an operation on his right groin.
“Jonas will go out and try it, as will Youssouf,” said Clarke.
“Everyone else, apart from Ben, will be out there.
“Funnily enough everybody wants to be in the team at the moment.
“I can’t work out why!
“There is a great desire for all the players to be involved.
“They all want to push themselves and the squad is in a really good place.
“Jonas is one of the few players to have played in every league game for us.
“He’s a tough character and he’ll play through the pain barrier if he has to.
“I’ve got to manage it and make sure I make the right calls so I have players for the long term, not just for the next game.”
The Albion chief added: “We think it’s possible Ben might need to have more surgery.
“If that’s the case it will be another seven to ten days before he’s ready to go.
“The injured players are looked after by the medical staff and when they’re almost back and ready to go I’ll have a chat with them.
“Ben doesn’t need me to be holding his hand or telling him that I love him!
“He knows that and that he’s an important player for us.
“But the most important goalkeeper I’ve got at the moment is Boaz Myhill because he’s the one in possession - and is doing a great job for us.
“We’re confident and happy to go forward with Boaz in the team.”
