LOAN WATCH: JT off mark at Leeds

17 December 2012

Find out how Albion's on-loan players fared this weekend

JEROME Thomas’ first goal for Leeds moved the Elland Road club within four points of the Championship play-off places.

The Albion winger, who was subbed six minutes from time, netted from close range in the 19th minute to set United on their way to a 2-0 home victory over Ipswich.

Staying in the Championship, George Thorne helped Peterborough move briefly off the bottom as Darren Ferguson’s side pulled off a huge shock at leaders Cardiff.

The Albion Academy graduate played the full 90 minutes of Posh’s 2-1 victory which ended City’s perfect home record.

Sheffield Wednesday’s win at fellow strugglers Barnsley later on Saturday saw Peterborough return to the foot of the table – but they are now just two points behind fourth-bottom Bristol City.

Chris Wood helped Millwall move back into the play-off places courtesy of a 1-0 victory over fellow promotion-hopefuls Leicester.

The New Zealand striker played the opening 79 minutes as the Lions returned to winning ways after their 13-match unbeaten run ended at Ipswich the previous week.

In League One, Scott Allan enjoyed a full workout as Portsmouth’s winless run extended to nine matches in a goalless draw with Preston at Fratton Park.

Allan had Pompey’s best attempt of the second half when his powerful drive was tipped over.

Sam Manton also played the full 90 minutes as Walsall surrendered a 2-0 lead to finish all-square with Yeovil.

Cameron Gayle played from start to finish to help Shrewsbury climb out of the League One drop-zone with a 2-1 victory at home to Carlisle.

Donervorn Daniels was an unused sub as leaders Tranmere earned a valuable point in a goalless draw at third-placed Sheffield United.
