Ladies out to upset Villa

Derby day take two in Premier League Cup

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies return to action against derby rivals Villa Ladies in the Premier League Cup at Boldmere St Michaels FC on Sunday (ko 2pm) after seeing their last two games fall foul to the weather.

Villa Ladies have also had their last two games postponed due to the elements, but they come into the game in a rich vein of form, winning their last five.

Baggies boss Dave Lawrence knows his side start as underdogs, but he believes anything can happen in a local derby, especially in the cup.

“Villa will probably be the best team we have played this year,” he said.

“But as they are our local rivals it adds extra spice, and we may just have enough determination and ability to cause an upset.”

Lawrence has seen his side win three out of their five away games, scoring an impressive 16 goals along the way.

First team coach Richard Holmes has put this down to the players’ hard work in training.

“Our goalscoring has been superb,” he added.

“It’s a credit to the effort and the hard work the girls have been putting in.”
