Club target shoplifters

Baggies to step up security for tomorrow’s away kit launch

ALBION are stepping up security for tomorrow’s away kit launch to combat the increasing trend of shoplifting teams targeting sportswear outlets.

The club will have security guards on duty at the Stadium Megastore from Friday onwards to specifically look out for any criminal activity.

“We have been reliably informed that organised shoplifting teams are targeting sportswear stores,” said chief executive Mark Jenkins.

“This is by no means specifically a West Bromwich Albion problem, but we would rather be proactive than reactive and that is why we are taking these measures.

“We want to warn anyone who is planning to target our stores, either tomorrow or at any point in the future, that we take this issue very seriously and have taken steps to thwart them.

“At the same time, we also want this message to serve as reassurance to anyone purchasing club kit via honest means, because theft from our stores not only affects the club, it is also very unfair on them.”
