Boing FC crowned 'Live the Dream' champions

Hawthorns play on the pitch tournament proves big success

ALBION supporters’ team Boing FC were crowned the winners of the second annual ‘Live the Dream’ tournament at The Hawthorns.

Boing FC, who were runners-up in last year’s competition, overcame 23 other teams to be crowned champions.

The tournament, which was run in association with Goals Dudley and this year sponsored by FCL Global Forwarding, gave teams of a wide range of ages and abilities the chance to follow in the footsteps of their heroes and play on the hallowed turf at The Hawthorns.

Following the initial group stages, where all teams played five games each, the tournament was divided in two, with the bottom teams competing for the ‘plate’ and the top teams battling it out to be crowned FCL Cup Champions.

Former Albion player Daryl Burgess was also in attendance to lend a hand to third-place play-off winners Paget Rangers, while Richard Sneekes offered teams tactical advice and coaching pointers from the touchline.

Kulbir Sohi of tournament sponsors FCL Global Forwarding said: “The FCL Cup is an event which we all look forward to, the weather was fantastic and the quality of football on show was better than I had expected.

“The tournament throughout was played in the right spirit and my congratulations go to Boing FC for their well-deserved victory.

“Although my team was eliminated in the second round of the knockout stages we hope to progress even further in the tournament next year.”
