Jenson has benefitted from the club's shift in academy model since joining in December 2021.

Trusting younger players in higher age groups has been high among the focus for Albion's youth chiefs, and Sumnall reaped the benefits of that in his first year as a scholar. 

After joining the Baggies from non-league Stourbridge, the centre-back made 18 appearances in the U18 Premier League South during his maiden term in Leigh Downing's team, which only stood the defender in good stead for his second term - where he has become a leader in the 18s group and regularly captained the XI when in the team.
