‘No child should go hungry this Christmas’

Food packages at The Hawthorns

The Albion Foundation has launched the Hawthorns Christmas Meals programme to help feed vulnerable members of the local community during the festive period.

The Club’s official charity has delivered more than 70,000 food parcels in Sandwell since the COVID-19 pandemic took hold in March and is now working to ensure families in need receive nutritious meals over Christmas.

Albion’s players have thrown their support behind the programme in the above campaign launch video and have also committed to a cash donation.

Here’s how you can help…

Just £5 is enough to provide a vulnerable family with a seven-day food parcel, while £10 will feed a local family for a fortnight and £20 for the entire festive period.

Text TAF5 to 70470 to donate £5, TAF10 to donate £10, and TAF20 to donate £20 to the Hawthorns Christmas Meals programme*. Alternatively, supporters can donate via the Foundation’s JustGiving page, here.

The club will celebrate the inspirational work of The Albion Foundation by wearing special edition shirts when Sheffield United visit The Hawthorns on Saturday (ko 8pm).

The match-worn shirts will then be signed by each player and sold at an online auction, with all profits aiding the Hawthorns Christmas Meals programme.

Director of The Albion Foundation, Rob Lake, explains the day: “We are calling on our incredibly generous Albion family to help us feed vulnerable children during the Christmas period.

“Since March, when the majority of our programmes were put on hold, we have adapted to support members of our local community who are most in need.

“Our food parcels initiative has helped more than 70,000 members of the community and with help from our supporters – and a generous donation from our first-team players – we hope to continue to provide meals for as long as they are needed.

“Foundation Day is a special moment in the Albion calendar and it will certainly not be the same this year without fans, but supporters can continue to support us by making donations from home.”
