Zohore's delight at bagging winner

Kenneth Zohore admitted he was “delighted” to bag the winner at The Valley and end a frustrating spell in front of goal.

The forward, whose last goal came from the penalty spot at Derby County in August, scored as Slaven Bilić’s side overcame Charlton Athletic in the capital.

And Zohore insisted he was pleased with his display in the Emirates FA Cup third-round tie, but more importantly, spoke of his happiness to be back among the goals.

He said: “I have been waiting for a chance to play and to show what I can do. I think today I set a good example of myself.

“I could feel that I haven’t been playing for a while, I was blowing a couple of times but that is how it is when you are not playing that often.

“The boss said well done to us as a team after the game. It has been good today.

“I’m obviously delighted to score today and to help the team into the next round of the FA Cup.

“I hadn’t scored in a while before today so I was really pleased to get on the scoresheet.

“I have been speaking with the manager. He knows I’ve been frustrated but I’ve just had to wait for my chance.

“I think I took that chance today.”
