Albion PL2 2 Hull PL2 1

Albion Under-23s recorded a third consecutive Premier League Cup group-stage win on Tuesday afternoon, beating Hull City 2-1 courtesy of a last-ditch Jamie Soule goal.

The Baggies secured a hard-fought victory at Hednesford Town’s Keys Park thanks to goals at the end of either half from Finn Azaz and Soule, interspersed by a Billy Chadwick equaliser just after the interval.

Albion had first-half chances through Saul Shotton and Chris Willock, while the Tigers went closest when James Berry fired wide.

Azaz handed the hosts the lead towards the end of a rather uneventful first half, tucking home neatly after Soule played him through on goal.

Shortly after the break Chadwick would equalise for the visitors, slotting into the corner from inside the box.

An end-to-end finale yielded a late winner for the Baggies; Soule lashed home after some good wing play by substitute Eoin Ashton.

Albion are top of Group C in the Premier League Cup with nine points after beating Hull 2-1, Newcastle United 1-0 and Scunthorpe United 2-0.

ALBION: House; Meredith, Shotton, Hill (Sharpe 60), Dyce; Solanke (Harmon 60), Harper; Willock, Azaz, Tulloch (Ashton 82), Soule.

Substitutes: Boruc, Chambers.
