The ‘wow’ factor is on its way - Sawyers

Romaine Sawyers says Albion will be a force to be reckoned with once this summer’s recruits have fully found their feet.

The 27-year-old is one of nine new faces who have helped Slaven Bilić’s Baggies earn a seven-game unbeaten start to the Sky Bet Championship season.

Albion again came back from behind to another impressive point on the road with a 1-1 draw at Fulham on Saturday.

And Romaine admits “chemistry” takes time but believes there will be a “wow” moment when the Baggies click.

“I think in the end it was thoroughly deserved,” he said of the Craven Cottage draw. “I think we started a little slower than we would like, but they’re a good team and you have to show them respect, especially at home.

“They used the ball well, they keep moving it, stretching the pitch and they’ve got a game plan.

“They’re stretching a pitch and the gaffer spoke about it before the game, so we tried to nullify it as much as we could and in the end I think we did our job.

“We’re still building and there’s a lot of new players, including myself. We’re trying to get that chemistry so we’re on the same wavelength. We’re still picking up a lot of points. It will stand us good over 46 games if we keep on picking up points.

“We’re a big club in this league and once we get ahead in games teams will be like ‘wow’.

“When they’re ahead we have to show them what a big club we are. We’ve shown that already over and over again this season.

“Once we start taking leads we’ll be a lot more comfortable.

“It’s nice to say we’re unbeaten and we want to turn the draws into wins. Away from home if we keep picking up points and we make our home ground a fortress we’ll be all right.”
