Leicester U18s 1 Albion U18s 2

Albion Under-18s beat Leicester City 2-1 at the Belvoir Drive Training Ground on Saturday to give themselves a chance of qualifying for the next stage of the U18 Premier League Cup.

The Baggies will be guaranteed progression to the next round should they win by three clear goals, though there are circumstances which could see them progress with a two-goal triumph.

The Foxes took the lead against Peter Gilbert’s team when Terel Pennant scored just before the half-hour mark.

However, Shane Flynn got sent off for the hosts with quarter of an hour to play and the Baggies capitalised on the man advantage.

Alex Gilbert tucked a low penalty into the corner after Zac Ashworth was fouled in the box to restore parity.

With three minutes of normal time to play, Tom Fellows raced to the byline and chipped an excellent cross to allow Modou Faal to head home a late winner.

ALBION: Cann; Ingram, Williams, Taylor, Delaney (Ashworth 23); Smith (Fellows 61), King; Gilbert, Andrews, Wakeling (Faal 80); Malcolm.

Substitutes: Boruc, Teixeira.
