Jake hails group effort

Jake Livermore believes the character of his team-mates made Albion worthy winners of the West Midlands derby against Birmingham City.

The Baggies midfielder epitomised that never-say-die attitude with his exquisite late volley to make it 3-2.

And Jake, who is making late goals his Albion speciality, says the Blues win gives the Club valuable momentum.

“We’ve got some great boys up-front who score plenty of goals so it’s nice to chip in now and then but the main thing is the three points,” said Jake.

“The character we showed to come from behind twice just shows what this group of lads is all about and we need momentum to get through so that can’t hurt.

“It was a difficult game. It was scrappy, they made it difficult. We knew it was going to be one of those games. It was a great response from our lads. It’s a good group in there and I wish us all the success because we deserve it together. We’re a good set of boys.

“Teams come here and it’s hard to break them down. When we go behind sometimes we have found it difficult to get back in the games.”

He added: “Credit to Jimmy at half-time and his coaching staff. They kept us calm, kept us positive, showed us what we are doing well and we continue to do that. Some good play from the boys has got us through.

“We’re here to get the three points. We’ve played some great stuff this season and unfortunately not always got the result we have deserved.

“This time of the season we need to flip that and we start needing results because it’s what the fans deserve, it’s we deserve and it’s what the staff deserve as a Club and on the whole that is what we need to start to do, start winning games.

“All we can do is take it game by game and do the best we can. Our goal is still to get up and whichever way that comes we need to be ready take that chance whatever it is.”
