‘Good performance’ and new players please Slaven

Slaven Bilić says he’s “very pleased” with the performance Albion delivered in his first outing on home turf as Head Coach.

The Baggies created a host of opportunities which could have seen them beat Premier League Bournemouth at The Hawthorns but in the end had to settle for a goalless draw after Kieran Gibbs, Jonathan Leko and Darnell Furlong were unable to convert late chances.

“It was a good performance, I would say very good,” said Slaven.

“We deserved to win. We played against a good team but we were solid in every phase of the game.

“We didn't drop, we created many chances and the only negativity is that we have to convert these chances.

“It’s a shame that we didn't score a few goals tonight, but I am very pleased with the performance.

“In the dressing room they are very positive and very optimistic.

“The new players did well, all of them. Semi Ajayi did excellent… Filip (Krovinović) did really well, they all trust him.

“Kenneth (Zohore) did well also, holding the ball and creating chances. Darnell (Furlong) did well in the second half, I just told him that I’m very happy with the timing of his runs. He was very, very good, very physical.

“And if you count young Nathan (Ferguson) as a new player, he’s got everything to be very good in that role, or excellent in that role.”
