It’s a “strong point” - Furlong

Darnell Furlong believes Albion should be pleased with their 1-1 draw against Brentford and admits the Bees provided “great opposition” at The Hawthorns.

The full-back headed the Baggies level in first-half stoppage time - just three minutes after Bees skipper Henrik Dalsgaard nodded the visitors in front.

And Furlong, who insists table-topping Albion go into every game chasing a win, says Saturday’s clash with the in-form Londoners provided a “strong point.”

“They came and put their stamp on the game and made it very difficult for us on our home ground which hasn’t very much this season, normally we put the stamp on the game ourselves,” he said.

“They were great opposition and they setup well to do things against us. But we’ve still come away with a point against a good side. We’re still top of the table so we’re happy.

“After falling behind we take a draw. We definitely set out to win the game, there’s no doubt about that, but the way it was going, after a few spells in the first half where they were a bit better than us, so it’s a strong point in the end.

He added: “It’s very nice to be top of the table, no matter what stage of the season, but to be top at Christmas is great. But Leeds were top this time last season and they’re still in the Championship this year so we’ve got to just take it game by game, banging out the results and seeing where it leaves us.”
