Momentum key for Kieran

Kieran Gibbs says accumulating momentum is important for the Baggies as they bring their league campaign to an end.

With a Sky Bet Championship Play-Off position all-but secured, Albion are hoping to continue their good form in their final three league games, starting with a trip to Reading on Easter Monday.

And Gibbs is excited to see how the final stages of the season will play out.

“You don’t want to take your foot off the gas,” said Kieran.

“Anything can happen, really, nothing is out of the question yet. We have found ourselves in a little strange position in the league over the last couple of weeks. We’re not really looking over our shoulders anymore I don’t think but for us now I just think it is about keeping momentum and seeing what can happen in the last three games.

“It was hot today. It was difficult conditions, we’ve not been used to that this season. The temperature has started to pick up now so you want to try and control the games as much as you can in this heat until you get used to it a bit more. It was another good win and it’s good in terms of momentum for coming towards the end of the season, so I’m happy.

“I just caught my goal right and once you do that the rest takes care of itself. It was nice to get off the mark because I thought we had started pretty well, but games like that can drag on unless you get underway fairly sharpish so it was good to change the dynamic of the game like that.

“I thought we started a bit slow in the second half so we just need to tie up some loose ends for the last couple of games of the season and it’s a good chance for us to work on things that we might not normally do and it’s a good time to get a few games under the belt where you get used to different systems and try new things because you never know what you’re going to come up against in an opposition."
