Gayle stars at Disabled Supporters’ Club celebration

Dwight Gayle took centre stage as Albion’s Disabled Supporters’ Club celebrated its annual day with the first-team squad at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies striker, who has 21 Championship goals so far this term, earned the fan group’s 2018/19 Player of the Season award.

Dwight was joined by his team-mates to greet supporters, sign autographs and pose for selfies, with more than 100 fans in The Hawthorns’ Richardson Suite.

And Gayle was delighted to win the first gong of awards season.

“It’s a massive achievement for me,” said Dwight.

“To see that what I have done on the field over the year has been appreciated so generously by our supporters is great.

"I know that we need to push on now and hopefully we can finish the season on a real high."

He added: “They welcomed us here with open arms, it was a fantastic day.

“The fans really enjoyed it and the boys had big smiles on their faces so it’s a nice gesture for us to show our support back to them and to thank them.”
