Albion won their first Premier League game under Alan Irvine, grinding out a victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane for the first time in 30 years.
Debutant Joleon Lescott made an instant impact in defence but it was James Morrison who sealed the points with the only goal of the game 16 minutes from time.
