On this day in 1957...

THE Hawthorns’ new floodlights were officially opened for the visit of the Red Army (CDSA) from the Soviet Union.

In an extraordinary evening of entertainment, Albion came out 6-5 winners in front of a huge crowd of 52,805.

Derek Kevan scored twice, Ronnie Allen converted a penalty and Bobby Robson, Frank Griffin and Don Howe also scored.
