Away day guide: Wigan Athletic

OVER 3,500 Baggies will be making the trip up to Wigan on Saturday. Here's all you need to know ahead of your visit to the DW Stadium.

Address: The DW Stadium, Newtown, Wigan, Lancashire, WN5 0UZ. 

Their home since: 1999.

Previous stadiums: Springfield Park (1932-1999).

Capacity: 25,133.

Record attendance at current stadium: 25,133 versus Manchester United - 11 May 2008.

Pitch dimensions: 105m x 68m (115yd x 74.5yd).

Distance from The Hawthorns: 85 miles.

Parking: Away supporters should follow WN5 0UN in their Sat Nav and can use Car Park 1 at a cost of £5 per car or motorbike, £10 per mini bus and £20 per coach. Wigan say that coaches should be pre-booked where possible.

Nearest train station(s): Wigan North Western (1.1 miles from the stadium).

Before the game: The DW Stadium is positioned adjacent to Robin Retail Park, which is home to several large stores including Next, Boots, Smyths Toys, Argos and Pets at Home. Within Next is a Costa Coffee café, whilst Burger King, KFC and Subway are at the far side of the retail park. The Red Robin pub is approx. 500 yards from the stadium and is welcoming to all supporters, but is used mainly by fans of the visiting club.

Did you know… The first away side to win a competitive game at the DW Stadium was actually Wigan Athletic after a first round FA Cup tie against non-league Cambridge City took place there due to their ground be unsuitable to host the fixture. Wigan used the away dressing room, played in their away kit and won the game 2-0!
