'Bomber' receives Albion cap

TONY Brown was unable to keep a date with his old team-mates at last weekend’s Hawthorns bash to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1968 dinner.

But that did not stop the Club’s record appearance maker and goalscorer receiving his first-team Cap along with his Wembley colleagues.

The caps are part of a new initiative from Albion to reward EVERY player to have featured at first-team level with a unique memento bearing the original design of the famous throstle and each player’s numerical position in the order of appearances.

In Tony’s case that was No. 460 and we asked the man who is No. 807 in the list to present the Cap to the legend who is ‘Bomber’.

You can watch video of the moment above, in which ‘Bomber’ promises his fellow Baggies legend: “Maybe I can present you with yours one day."

Brunty need not worry - his turn will come.

All through next season, which sees the Club celebrate the 140th anniversary of its first game, we will be distributing caps to the players who make up the story of our great club.
