Moore 'excited' by attacking Townsend

DARREN Moore has clinched his fifth signing of the summer with the arrival of Conor Townsend, a player he tips to get even better during the course of his three-year contract at The Hawthorns.

Conor has signed from League One Scunthorpe where he has developed a reputation as one of the most exciting young defenders bursting for a chance in the game’s higher levels.

The attack-minded left back has ben recruited for an undisclosed fee to challenge and back-up senior choice Kieran Gibbs and follows Sam Johnstone, Kyle Bartley, Jonathan Bond and Harvey Barnes into The Hawthorns this summer.

Darren said: “I’m really pleased to get Conor in because the qualities he will bring into the group are just what I am looking for.

“He’s an exciting, energetic, bubbly character who loves getting forward with attacking intent. He’s got a good left foot and will inject further energy into the team.

“He’s been on our radar for quite a while and I’m particularly pleased we’ve been able to get him in because two other clubs were also trying to sign him.

“And there is more to come from him. He’s going to be joining an experienced group of players who will be able to help develop him in the working environment we have here."
