Darren sees 'signs of encouragement'

DARREN Moore was pleased with elements of his side's spirited fightback against Barnsley.

Albion found themselves two goals down with just 11 minutes on the clock but battled back to win 3-2 at Oakwell.

"Obviously being 2-0 down isn't a nice way to go into the game," Darren admitted.

"We started really slowly and it took us a while to get going.

"I think the turning point was getting a goal just before half time. The second half was a more spirited fightback from the team.

"I'm pleased to come from behind. It'll do the players the world of good mentally."

Of course, the result is not the priority when it comes to pre-season friendlies.

And the gaffer added: "It was, again, all about the workout and trying to get some matchplay, team dynamics and messages into the players.

"I saw that in parts tonight. But really it was the about the energy against good opposition.

"I thought Barnsley were very good tonight. They caused us problems and we had to get to grips with their high energy and work rate.

"I'm pleased the boys weathered it, got the ball down and played some football.

"There's signs of encouragement as long as we keep improving."
