Pardew: Keep closing the gap

ALAN Pardew believes it’s important that Albion keep up the good form they’ve experienced in recent weeks to ensure their place in the Premier League for next season.

The Baggies have lost just two of their last eight matches since Boxing Day ahead of Saturday’s crucial clash at The Hawthorns against Southampton.

“What we’ve done, even though we’re bottom of the league, is drawn all the middle table into us,” said Alan.

“The bottom teams have picked up points and we’ve gained on those teams in the middle area and made everybody nervous.

“That’s important and we’ve got to keep doing that.

“So rather than focus on how important it is for Southampton, it’s more important for us to keep closing that gap to those teams who probably thought they were getting comfortable - and they’re certainly not comfortable now.”
