We owe them a ‘big thank-you’ - Barry

GARETH Barry heaped praise on the loyal band of followers who made the trip to back the Baggies to an important 2-1 win at Bramall Lane on Friday night.

More than 1,000 Albion fans battled rush-hour traffic to witness a third successive away win, with Darren Moore’s men climbing to third in the Sky Bet Championship table in the process.

And Barry, who netted a crucial equaliser with just moments of the first half remaining, says the supporters played a vital role in his side’s performance.

“You need away fans driving you on,” he admitted.

“Christmas is coming, it’s a freezing cold Friday night, and it’s on the TV, so all the players in that dressing room are giving you a big thank-you.

He added: “The first half an hour they caused us real problems, so to react in the second half to control the way we did was one of our best away performances for a long time.

“To learn from the first half, adapt, and control the second is probably the thing that’s going to really please the manager.

“It’s always nice to score, it was at a critical time in the game, as we were up against it. We had real control in the second half, that’s what’s delighting us so much.

“We can watch the video back, take a lot from it, and look forward to a busy Christmas period.”
