Wolves PL2 Albion PL2 match report

TEN-MAN Albion suffered their first defeat of the Premier League 2 Division Two season to Wolves at the New Bucks Head Stadium.

The young Baggies started the game well and thought they made the breakthrough inside 10 minutes when Jamie Soule’s volley found the back of the net, only for the assistant referee to flag for offside.

Kyle Edwards was then inches from putting Jamie Smith’s men in front shortly after as his run and subsequent powerful shot came crashing back off the post.

But it was Wolves who went ahead on 18 minutes when Nathan Ferguson was harshly judged to have brought down Benny Ashley-Seal inside the area, and the striker dusted himself down to tuck the resulting penalty away.

20 minutes later Wolves won another penalty, with Ferguson receiving a second yellow card for his involvement. Niall Ennis stepped up and, despite his first effort being fantastically saved by Alex Palmer, he was on hand to tap in the rebound.

After the break the Baggies had a chance to get back in the game when Callum Morton headed wide, but it was Wolves that got the third goal through Ashley-Seal on the hour mark.

Pedro Goncalves’s top corner strike extended Wolves advantage eight minutes from time before Kyle Edwards netted Albion’s consolation goal late into the match.

ALBION: Palmer, Meredith, Ferguson, Healy, Harmon; Wilding, Azaz (Howkins 71); Clayton-Phillips, Edwards (Dyce 87), Soule (Brown 45); Morton.
