Livermore heaps praise on J-Rod

JAKE Livermore has poured praise on Albion's in-form leading goalscorer Jay Rodriguez.

J-Rod bagged the only goal of the game last weekend to down Manchester United at Old Trafford and take his tally for the season to 11 in all competitions.

It was his third goal in four matches heading into Saturday's Premier League encounter versus Liverpool, with Jay having bagged a brace against the Reds in the club's 3-2 FA Cup victory at Anfield in January.

England and Baggies midfielder Livermore is delighted for his team-mate, whom he insists is just as impressive off the pitch as he is on it.

"Jay has had a fantastic season," said Jake.

"He's played out of position for large parts of it. Credit to him because he's a great professional, a great lad and sometimes that can work against you.

"He's done a job for the team and to come up with 11 goals in a team that has not scored a bundle is fantastic.

"Credit to him."

The Baggies host Champions League semi-finalists Liverpool at The Hawthorns in Saturday's lunchtime encounter (ko 12.30pm).

And Livermore is keen to continue where Albion left off against their north-west rivals United.

"We would have liked a few more pluses this year but that (winning at Old Trafford) was certainly one of them," he added.

"I'm delighted for the group of boys, it's been a difficult season, and so to come out with the three points there gives us a bit of belief to go forward.

"It was a great game to be involved in, obviously, and we just hope we can pull confidence from that and continue."
