Duo in contention for Old Trafford trip

ALBION expect to have their selection options improved this weekend with both Nacer Chadli and Sam Field back in contention.

The pair made comebacks for the U23s at Brighton on Monday night after overcoming injury problems.

Sam has been missing since the last international break because of a calf injury picked up playing for England's U20s.

Nacer’s difficulties have been much more disruptive with the Belgian international restricted to just three Premier League appearances this season, the last of them an aborted 16-minute comeback at Stoke on December 23.

His problem has been a thigh injury which was originally sustained on international duty back in the early weeks of the season.

But after their problem-free comebacks on Monday Director of Performance Mark Gillett said: “We can be optimistic Sam and Nacer will be available for selection at Old Trafford.

“There were no issues at Brighton and the pair will continue in full training this week.”

Albion’s first team coach Darren Moore will have to wait another week to have Hal Robson-Kanu back “in the mix.”

Robson-Kanu, who suffered a concussion injury from a clash of heads in the Bournemouth game, sat out the Burnley and Swansea fixture as a regulatory precaution which requires him to be free of all symptoms for seven days before he resumes full training.

The Welsh international is targeting a return for the Liverpool game.

Meanwhile Jonny Evans continues to make progress from the knee injury which kept him out of the Swansea game and striker Daniel Sturridge could be back in full training later this week, edging closer to a return to first team action following the hamstring injury suffered early in the game at Chelsea on February 12.
