Albion v Swansea City match report

ALBION registered a 1-1 Premier League draw against Swansea City in Darren Moore's first match in charge.

Jay Rodriguez volleyed home Salomon Rondon's flick-on at the far post in the 54th minute to hand the Baggies the lead at The Hawthorns.

Yet Tammy Abraham headed home a leveller for the Swans 15 minutes from time to ensure it finished a point apiece.

Club legend and fans' favourite Moore, first-team coach and double promotion winner as an Albion player, was handed the reins on Monday following the departure of Alan Pardew.

The point was Albion's first in nine league matches since January.

'Mooro' made two changes from last weekend's defeat to Burnley, Matt Phillips and James McClean coming in for Claudio Yacob and injured captain Jonny Evans.

The Baggies made a positive start to proceedings, stand-in skipper Chris Brunt testing Lukasz Fabianksi with a stinging drive from distance.

But the first clear-cut chance of the encounter went the way of the visitors in the 40th minute, Andre Ayew poking wide when sent through by Sam Clucas.

Rodriguez's powerful drive from Craig Dawson's headed knock-down brought a super one-handed save from Fabianksi in injury time as it remained goalless at the interval.

Yet the Baggies frontman made no mistake nine minutes after the restart.

After successive corners, the ball found its way to Matt Phillips and his left-wing cross was flicked on by Rondon into the path of Rodriquez, who side-footed home on the volley at the far post - his tenth goal of the campaign.

McClean saw his drilled effort blocked by lunging Swans skipper Federico Fernandez as the hosts pushed for a crucial second goal.

Yet it was the visitors who found the net in the 75th minute, Abraham heading in Clucas' corner to ensure it finished all square.

ALBION: Foster, Nyom, Dawson, Hegazi, Gibbs, Phillips, Livermore, Brunt (c), McClean, Rodriguez (Krychowiak 83), Rondon.

Subs: Myhill, McAuley, Yacob, Harper, Leko, Burke.
