Seven loanees in action as Leko shines

JONATHAN Leko was once again earning rave reviews at the weekend as he played just over an hour for SkyBet Championship side Bristol City in their 4-1 win over Derby County.

The forward’s quick feet won a penalty and his overall performance impressed Robins boss Lee Johnson, who said after the game that he is “like the Lord of the Dance” and that he “would hate to be a defender playing against him”.

The result has moved City up to 8th in the table, just a couple of points off the play off places after eight league matches.

In SkyBet League One both Shaun Donnellan and Tyler Roberts played as Walsall drew 1-1 with high-flying Peterborough.

Shaun completed the whole 90 minutes and even hit the post with a header, whilst Tyler was substituted with just over 20 minutes of the game remaining.

Walsall are currently 14th in League One with 9 points from their opening eight games.

Meanwhile Tahvon Campbell came on as a first half substitute for Solihull Moors in the Vanarama National League on Saturday, but the attacker couldn’t get on the scoresheet as his side lost 1-0 to Bromley.

And elsewhere there were a number of Albion loanees taking part in the FA Cup second qualifying round, including Dara O’Shea who played for Hereford in their 4-0 win over Kempston Rovers.

It was also a good weekend for Jasko Keranovic as his side advanced through to the next round with a 4-3 win over Grantham Town.

However, the same can’t be said for Ethan Ross’ Redditch as the goalkeeper couldn’t prevent his team from losing 4-1 to Stratford and crashing out of the famous cup competition.
