HRK: We fought until the end

Goalscorer laments quick-fire City double

HAL Robson-Kanu says the Baggies battled until the final whistle in their 3-1 defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Albion frontman scored his third Premier League goal of the season after turning Allan Nyom's cross past Willy Caballero in the 87th minute.

But HRK said he would have been happier without a goal if it meant picking up three points.

"It's always nice to score goals but it's nicer to win games.

"We set up to try and stop what is undoubtedly world class opposition.

"But unfortunately they got two quick goals and it was an uphill battle from there.

"We fought until the end and showed great desire but it just wasn't to be tonight."

And the Welshman tried to sum up the Baggies' top-flight campaign as they prepare for their final fixture away to Swansea City.

"I think over the course of the season we've done well.

"We've shown good discipline and put in some great performances for our fans to be proud of.

"We want to sign off in style against Swansea on Sunday."
