Pardew: Football is about results

ALAN Pardew is determined to see Albion turn draws into victories, starting at Swansea City on Saturday.

The Baggies head to South Wales having picked up one point in each of their last three Premier League games, with last weekend’s stalemate with Crystal Palace their seventh draw of the season – the highest in the division.

Supporters have been buoyed by positive performances over the last two weeks, but Pardew insists football is all about results and is eager to see his side chalk up the victories their recent displays have deserved.

He said: “We’ve had a really good week on the training ground. Football is about results and we need to turn up on Saturday afternoon and win the game of football.

“We’ve lost the least amount of games out of the bottom eight in the Premier League, but we’ve drawn too many games. We need to turn those draws into wins.

“You need to enter every match with a plan to try and win it. We will have one to try and beat Swansea and then we’ll have one to try and beat Liverpool."

Saturday’s opponents Swansea City are also searching for three points having not won since mid-October. But, when prompted on the prospect of a "six-pointer" at the Liberty Stadium, Pardew said he's expecting just another game.

“A six pointer is with two games to go to stay in the division, this is just three points.

“Swansea had a great run towards the end of the last year but this season they’ve struggled to get going.

“Paul Clement is being given time to turn things around and I think he’ll say he deserves that after what he did last season. He’s worked under the best, he knows what it takes but like us his team just needs a win to raise their confidence.”
